Additional Information

REALTOR Emeritus®

A REALTOR Emeritus® is any person who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or a combination of both, for a cumulative period of 40 years in one or more Associations of REALTORS®, is eligible for REALTOR Emeritus® status. Upon approval by the Board of Directors of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, no further payment of dues is necessary to the Atlanta Board, Georgia Association or the National Association.

The dues waiver does not take affect until the following 'dues season'. For example, members approved as Emeritus at the NAR Mid-Year or Annual meetings in 2012 would have their dues waived starting in 2013. Upon approval, each REALTOR Emeritus® member will receive a congratulatory letter, certificate and 40-year REALTOR Emeritus® lapel pin.

*All applications must be submitted to the Atlanta Board of REALTORS® by March 15th & September 15th of each year.

If you believe that you fulfill the requirements to achieve REALTOR Emeritus® status as defined above and would like to have all future national, state & local dues waived, please click here to download the REALTOR Emeritus® application.

If you have any questions regarding REALTOR Emeritus® status, you may contact Mendalyn Harper, Information Central Manager, via email, Mendalyn@abr.org, or phone, 404.250.0051.

NAR Public Advocacy Campaign

Each year, your Renewal Statement contains a separate line item for the NAR Public Advocacy Campaign.

The Public Advocacy Campaign will allow NAR to deliver messages quickly and effectively to consumers and public policymakers about issues that matter to REALTORS® and their clients – issues like access to affordable mortgage financing, tax incentives to home ownership, overly stringent credit requirements and cumbersome short sales and foreclosures.

As you may know, the Public Advocacy Campaign remains one of the most popular programs among NAR members... In 2010, 95 percent of REALTORS® favored the advertising program, and 90 percent wanted to see more advertising that promotes REALTORS® and the value of homeownership.

While this line item is distinct from your NAR dues, it is not optional. For more information on the Public Advocacy Campaign, please visit www.realtor.org/pac.nsf.

REALTOR Tax Deduction Notice: The portion of dues paid that is spent to lobby the State and Federal governments is not deductible for income tax purposes. GAR has estimated that $14.59 (19.98%) is the nondeductible portion of the 2013 GAR dues. NAR has estimated the nondeductible portion of its 2013 dues to be $44.00 (or 36%). The entire $35.00 NAR Public Advocacy Campaign Assessment qualifies as deductible dues.
